The incorporation of the UK Blood Safety and Quality Regulations 2005 led to
hospitals reviewing their blood transfusion systems and processes. The key area of impact for hospitals is that they must have total traceability of the blood components and retain records for 30 years.
There are two main types of tag in use.
Thermal transfer - continuous fanfold tag
l For use with thermal transfer printers
l Normal size is between 203mm and 305mm deep, with a width of 83mm to 95mm
l 150gsm paper {ultra smooth and dust-free}, with a reinforced file punch hole
l with added piggyback label, or built-in integrated label
l with tear-off perforation and fold-line
l supplied in continuous packs of 500-1,000 tags
Cut-set tag
l a common size is 148mm deep x 210mm wide, but any variation on this size is            possible
l 135-150gsm {ultra smooth and dust-free}
l with a reinforced file punch hole
l with added piggyback label, or built-in integrated label
l with tear-off perforations
